Artwork description:

This is an original hand-printed work. The following techniques are used in the work: monotype, stencil printing and relief print.

It is a limited print from an edition of 6, using Printmaking Paper, 240 gsm and relief printing inks.

The image size is 60x70cm with a generous margin to allow for framing.

The work "Black Coffee, White Fog" is based on the poem "It Was Jorney Through the Fog" by Joseph Brodsky. Monotonous minimalistic images help to create a sense of solitude, peace and quiet. The work becomes like the image of a painting in a painting. We look at how the poet looks at the fog from the window of the ship. The anticipation of arrival fades away into the milkiness of the fog, and it feels completely irrelevant, like we've forgotten where we are and only focus on being in the moment. A cup of coffee might be the only thing that measures time that's passed.
