Bizarre Creature Rider I (2020)Sculpture

A strikingly coloured bizarre creature and its rider, offering a humorous take on life’s many twists and turns. A small, distinctive sculpture that really stands out.

This is one of a series of people sitting steadily on their Bizarre Creatures, whatever aerial acrobatics they might express. The riders are equally balanced whether their creatures are running along in a steady direction, gliding through the air with a grace not expected from such a blobular form, or leaping up in a sudden expressive imperative.

This Bizarre Creature is running along jauntily, carrying its rider wherever they want to go, and both seem equally happy together.

Bizarre creatures which question what we think of as familiar, and re-assure us with security in the midst of movement.

Bizarre Creature Rider I is made of a beautiful translucent British eco-resin, allowing interesting glimpses through to its internal structure. It is mounted on a semi-translucent almost black flat acrylic base, and is12cm long, 13cm tall, and 6.5cm wide including the base. You can see pictures of my making process in the “Me at Work” section of my Profile. It is for sale as a limited edition of 24, and the whole series are available from my further listings.

The sculpture is initialled on the creature’s right side near its end, and comes with a signed letter of authentication, stating its edition number. It is robust and can withstand small knocks and movements in the home. Being made in a light-weight material, it weighs less than half a kilo and is easy to transport and move about. I package it in a sturdy cardboard box and it travels very well by courier.
