Original artwork description

The sixth work in an ongoing series re-imagining the origin of the Japanese 鳥居 (TORII) gate, which marks the entrance to sacred space or Shinto shrine.

Itsukushima Shrine 厳島神社, on an island near Hiroshima, appears to float in the sky at high tide.

Painted with acrylics on canvas. Using razor blades and brushes, a thick foundation of color is layered to a rich texture, then overlaid with intricate lines and geometric patterns resembling circuitry.
