I have always been profoundly fascinated by London’s atmosphere and the way historic architecture interacts with the shifting, misty British sky. Walking along the Thames, the imposing presence of the Elizabeth Tower struck me not as a static monument of cold stone, but as a living symbol of passing time. I felt a strong urge to translate that massive architectural weight into the spontaneous, fluid language of traditional Japanese ink (Sumi-e), capturing the emotional rhythm of the city rather than just its physical form.

This artwork is deeply special because of the challenging dialogue between the subject and the choice of materials. Recreating a highly structured, neo-Gothic Western tower on delicate and highly porous traditional rice paper requires immense concentration, technical precision, and absolute presence of mind. While the sharp details of the clock face act as a firm anchor of reality, the rest of the Westminster silhouette and the surrounding sky softly dissolve into raw textures and evocative monochrome washes. It beautifully embodies the concept of the "balance of the void," creating a meditative bridge between Western history and Eastern spiritual minimalism.
