Original artwork description:

This surreal black- and - white acrylic painting explores the nature of time through three symbolic figures - Past, Present, and Future - locked in a perpetual, uneasy dance. The Past, on the left, is covered in spikes; the Present, in the center, stands barefoot and burdened; and the Future, on the right, has winged feet and appears to rush forward. Although each character pulls in a different direction, they remain physically bound together, symbolizing the tension and interdependence between them. Constantly in discord, yet inseparable, they rely on one another to give meaning to existence. The title Belles Èpoques, rendered in jagged, thorn-pierced letters suspended in tiny clouds above them, invites a reflection on the illusions of nostalgia and fragility of so-called "beautiful times". Painted in Berlin in 2019, "Belles Èpoques" is both playful and unsettling, a visually striking reflection on memory, transience, and the illusion of progress.

Materials used:

Acrylic on canvas
