I didn't expect anything this beautiful in the backstreets of Crested Butte, and this painting tries to capture one of those unexpected moments of beauty. Beauty in an Urban Alley is the second piece I’ve created from this remarkable little stretch of countryside—an alley unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Instead of concrete and trash bins, it opens into amazing color from flowers, bushes, trees, and the buildings themselves. Interesting shadows create a dramatic scene of shadow and light.
This artwork was created with impressionistic brushwork and vibrant palette that I strive for. As a fine artist, I’m continually drawn to places where the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and this alley in Crested Butte offered exactly that spark.
