Beautiful bay of light
Violet and lavender blue clouds,
Appeared over the vanilla and pale pink light,
Dusky pink hues earthy shades along the shoreline,
A wonderful feeling came over me,
As I stood by the duck egg blue sea.

Words and thoughts of seeing this in Winter at Studland bay, Dorset.
Original expressive watercolour on extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb.
I was delicate with my watercolour graduated washes. Starting with the warm glowy colours then bringing in while the paper is wet the cloud colours using a squirrel hair varnish brush. I wanted to achieve the merging of the sky and sea with the wet on wet washes. Didn’t want the horizon to be defined as I wanted to create an atmospheric effect like it was sea mist coming in.
Signed on the front and back of the painting.
Certificate of authenticity.
I love the coast in Winter the colours are so calming.

Materials used:

Extra rough textured watercolour paper bockingford 425gsm 200lb, Windsor and Newton watercolours, flat varnish squirrel hair brush, filbert brush, sable hair brush,
