Original artwork description:
Encaustic with 22K gold metal leaf on panel, this abstract geometric painting is part of my “Spectrum Series”, an exploration into the joy of color and a study of color relationships. The raw wood background of the painting is preserved under a thin layer of clear encaustic wax.
Encaustic was a favored material of the artist, Jasper Johns. It is made from a combination of beeswax, pigment and resin, and the paint shows an unmatched quality of texture and depth in color.
