Contemporary Impressionism.
Painted with thick impasto layers and energetic brushstrokes, this piece captures the lively light and texture of the Northumberland coast. Following a summer holiday to the Borders, I returned home inspired by the vast skies, shifting sands, and the timeless beauty of Bamburgh. Using photographs taken during those sunlit days, I created this small beach scene — an attempt to translate the freshness of the sea air and the warmth of that memory into paint.
The painting continues around the edges so framing is optional. Signed on the front, varnished and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
