Original artwork description
Back study 4-13-19 is a medium scale female figure study on canvas in oils using a muted palette contrasting with areas of vibrant colour. The work is painted with a fluid application of paint, staining and stripping back to allow areas of raw canvas to be visible. The work is a continuation in my interest in the notion of change and impermanence. We are exposed to countless images of manipulated perfection of the human form. This work is a counterbalance to this through the process of making the work and the resulting uneven surface textures and blotches of paint from earlier layers. Creating imperfect or flawed beauty.
Artwork signed on the back and includes a certificate of authenticity.
