I painted this piece on one of those clear autumn days when the air feels crystalline, and the low sun pours a warm, amber light over the streets. I was wandering through a small town not far from Paris — old houses with red-tiled roofs, narrow streets, and those remarkable plane trees whose crowns shimmered like living bursts of gold and copper.

What I wanted to capture was not just the landscape, but the very breath of autumn — that delicate mixture of melancholy and quiet joy. Each brushstroke carries an emotion, an impulse born from the moment itself. I painted quickly, thickly, unafraid of color. Let the strokes remain visible — they are the pulse, the heartbeat of the scene.

The dominant red represents warmth, life, and the fading day. It resonates with the ochres of the foliage, with the pale trunks of the trees, creating a sense of serene harmony.
