This painting was made last September; I painted it in my studio from photographs and a pencil sketch. Ashlett Mill was built in1816 to replace an earlier mill. It is quite an imposing building which is opposite the Ashlett Sailing Club and the creek is full of sailing boats. When I was young, I launched my first little sailing dingy here, just below the mill. I have painted this creek featuring the mill several times, and I find it a very pleasing subject to paint. The frame is a plain off white.
