Ascetic Eves IV emerges from an intuitive process — a dialogue between spontaneity and restraint, nature and contemplation. Layers of sand, fragments of paper, and real leaves are embedded into the surface, creating a rich tactile ground that captures both fragility and permanence.

Over this textured base, fluid gestures of acrylic and pastel unfold like a blooming field seen through light and memory. The colors — warm ambers, coral pinks, bursts of yellow and traces of turquoise — evoke the vitality of organic life balanced by a quiet spiritual rhythm.

The work’s title reflects this duality: “Ascetic” speaks of purity, inner discipline, and silence, while “Eves” recalls the natural, the sensual, the fertile. Together they form a meditation on restraint and abundance — a reflection on how vitality and serenity coexist in nature and within ourselves.

This painting belongs to an ongoing series exploring the meeting point between matter and emotion, where natural materials become vessels for intuitive mark-making and layered reflection.

My painting is rooted in the observation of light as a trigger for memory and perception. I am interested in those fleeting moments when an ordinary image — a shadow, a surface,... Read more
