I painted this April on the Dniester when the air already smelled of melting water and young grass.
Before me stretched a quiet river, reflecting the sky as if unsure of its own depth.
I tried to capture with my brush that fleeting state between cold and warmth.
The trees along the bank had not fully awakened yet, but they were already whispering of life.
I deliberately left the strokes rough to preserve the breath of the wind.
The colors blended directly on the canvas, just as spring itself blends the seasons.
I softened the blue sky with uneasy tones — April is never simple.
The water came alive with shimmering hues, like a memory of winter and a hint of summer to come.
I painted quickly, almost in a single breath, afraid of losing the moment.
And in the end, what remained on the canvas was not just a landscape, but my feeling of the world awakening.
