A young woman walks through a foggy August field, her headdress crowned with ripe apples. Behind her, the silhouettes of field workers fade into the distance, scythes in hand, as the last rays of sun brush the horizon.

Inspired by the Slavic folk holiday Apple Feast — a tradition with pre-Christian roots — this painting echoes the moment when summer begins to wane and the harvest ripens. Apples, the fruit of rich symbolism, mark the passage of time.

The woman’s downward gaze and quiet presence suggest she is more than just a passerby—perhaps a spirit of the harvest, or a symbol of some deeper, metaphorical change that is coming soon. A tribute to endings that are also beginnings, and to the timeless rituals that bind us to the land.
