Original artwork description
The model, Amanda, co-operated wonderfully during the prolonged execution of this complex painting. The triptych is hinged enabling the two outer portions to fold over and cover the centrepiece; the closed doors are decorated with a reclining figure in pastel of another model, Shan.
See Individual panels for details: Left, Right, and Central. An important work (to me at least) exploring the transformation of the female form through clothes and make-up. The dichotomy of the triptych(!) also confuses 'dressed up' with a mundane chore. An area I want to explore further, however it's important, as ever, to see that handling of paint is not subservient to subjective reality.
The triptych is quite heavy and fragile and requires a custom-built box for carriage. It is, in a sense, four paintings in one.
Materials used:
Spectrum oil paint, knives, sticks, paste medium.
Details:
- Oil painting on Panel / Board / MDF
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 156 x 61 x 8cm (unframed)
- Ready to hang
- Signed on the back
- Style: Expressive and gestural
- Subject: Nudes and erotic
