Joyce Fournier's sculpture presents a bust of a young woman, her head gently bowed, eyes closed in a moment of quiet introspection. The work is rendered with a rich, textured surface, evoking the warmth of aged bronze or patinated copper. Her hair frames a face marked by delicate features and a serene expression. The artist captures a sense of calm and contemplative grace through the figure's posture and the tactile quality of the medium.

'Aphrodite Reimagined is part of a new series of sculptures in mixed media that are whimsical and one of a kind. This piece has been created using an old concrete bust of Aphrodite which I then reimaged by applying layers of clay to reconfigure her entire persona. I then applied a patina of gold and burnt umber and fashioned her dress in a dark burgundy. A wax finish was then applied. Aphrodite, being the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, passion, and procreation is depicted here with her eyes closed as she thinks of love and passion. I think she is especially charming with her beaded necklace which is easy to remove if desired.'
