Angel of Colour and Light (2019) Original Mixed-media Painting by Phyllis Mahon

I love painting dancing bodies with flowing fiery hair!
This is an angel surrounded by spots of colour and light; on and around her body, in the spots and in the shading on her skin, I've included most colours of the spectrum.

It's inspired partly by the wonderful autumn colours in my garden as I was painting throughout October, as well as my constant inspiration of the human body, angels, hope and romanticism.

I've used mostly watercolours and pearlescent* blue acrylic on Indian** handmade paper.
Then I've added Inktense crayons and Caran d'Ache pencil.

I've made a CGI to show the painting in a room setting; the other photograph is the painting in my hallway.

*the photograph taken in my hall tries to show the lovely pearlescent effect in the blue area on the right of the image

**Indian cotton handmade paper is coloured with a natural pigment and has a pretty deckled edge which if desired can be made a feature of when it is time to frame.
This particular paper is approximately A3 (12 x 17 inches)
