“Alone With Myself” is a portrait of private reckoning. In this work, I stage the figure in a dark, pared-back room, leaning into the fragile support of a chair as he sinks into his own thoughts. The bright blue of his clothes cuts sharply against the deep maroon ground, suggesting both exposure and a desire for calm. I wanted his posture—the slouch, the spread legs, the dropped shoulders—to carry the weight of decisions that can’t be undone, those moments when there is no audience, only the echo of your own choices. This painting is my reflection on solitude, vulnerability, and the uneasy peace that comes when you finally stop running from yourself.
