From Arthington to Almscliffe Cragg - 2016

This print captures a sweeping view from the rolling meadows of Arthington, looking towards the striking silhouette of Almscliffe Cragg, with the graceful curve of the Wharfedale Viaduct cutting through the foreground.

Almscliffe Cragg is a dramatic outcrop of gritstone that rises suddenly from the surrounding fields—visible for miles and a favourite among local climbers. Perched above the Lower Wharfe Valley, it offers panoramic views on a clear day and holds a commanding presence in the landscape.

In contrast, the elegant arches of the Wharfedale Viaduct add a sense of rhythm and structure to the scene. A classic example of Yorkshire’s proud tradition of stone railway architecture, this Grade II listed viaduct carries the Harrogate Line across the valley, linking West and North Yorkshire.

This is a 13-colour, hand-pulled screen print in A1 size. Limited edition of 39.

Materials used:

Italian Canaletto Bianco 300gms paper, Acrylic paint.
