This small, yet powerful oil painting is a good example of Zakhar’s quest in finding the edge between figurative and abstract. This landscape is at the point where behind energetic thick brush strokes you may still recognize the landscape, see the greenery, river, sky, sun and clouds. But if you make just one tiny step closer to canvas, the painting will turn into pure abstraction, where the subject matter will be no longer recognizable.
