Original artwork description:

This humorous piece was made in answer to a brief surrounding an alternative 'ideal home show' and was part of a group of sculptures and artwork all commenting upon the domestic setting and feminism.
This carefully composed and juxtaposition group of found images is a commentary on how women over the last fifty years have been portrayed in the media. From domestic settings to porn shoots these images invariably have been taken by me for men. Even the adverts for the most mundane items like engine parts are entitled 'All part of the service' and accompanied by a bikini-clad woman. The domestic interiors magazines show women 'helping' men.

This wood panel piece is made using original magazine cuttings dating back to 1950. The paper is hand bonded onto birch ply, glazed and then laser cut into the traditional patchwork hexagon shape. These are then patchworked back together to create a single panel.

The piece is ready framed with a solid light tulip wood frame.

Materials used:

vintage magazines and books
