Aldeburgh Wave Study is a small realist oil painting on gesso panel, 8 x 8 inches (approx 20 x 20cm).
Inspired by visits to the Suffolk coast town of Aldeburgh, Christopher Witchall continues his preoccupation with the movement and colours of the ocean, a movement frozen in time between the ancient past and an endless future.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Aldeburgh Wave Study is painted on a deep edge cradled panel, so there is no need for framing and can be hung immediately. It is signed on the back and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Materials used:

Oil painting on deep edge panel. No need for framing.
