Original artwork description:

A dramatic and atmospheric oil painting by Christopher Gill signed 2017.This vibrant, stunning lake-scape is inspired by his visit to Lake Garda in August when the scorching heat of an Italian summer boils over into billowing angry thunder clouds over the mountains then spills like candle blackening over the deep warm waters of the lake. These regular storms colour the sky in amazing purples, bruised damson and menacing mauve. The calm waters of the lake transform into ominous viridian and bottle glass green as the wind gets up and the lake becomes less than welcoming.
The regular ferry dashes across the bubbling waters, seeking haven in the nearest lakeside port. A yacht at full sail skims across the lake to reach the safety of the shore. Within an hour the storm will pass and once again the beautiful lake will be calm.
This painting is finished in a simple hand cut, white washed wooden beading, ready to hang. Or ready for framing by the customer.

Materials used:

Oil on stretched canvas
