Adam Wants to Be Human

A powerful and deeply symbolic original oil painting by Lithuanian artist Silvija Drebickaitė, whose work combines classical figurative painting with surreal symbolism and philosophical narrative.

Completed in 2017, Adam Wants to Be Human explores identity, transformation, consciousness, and humanity itself. Rather than retelling the biblical story, the painting invites viewers to consider what it truly means to become human.

The monumental male figure dominates the composition, surrounded by recurring symbolic elements including the apple, mysterious eyes, organic forms, vivid blue structures and layered abstract textures. Every detail contributes to an open narrative that rewards repeated viewing and personal interpretation.

Painted with exceptional technical skill, rich oil glazes and refined anatomical drawing, the work successfully bridges realism and symbolism. The warm earthy palette contrasts dramatically with brilliant blues, creating both visual energy and emotional depth.

Silvija Drebickaitė exhibited internationally during her career, including participation in the Beijing International Art Biennale, one of Asia's leading international art exhibitions. One of her exhibited works later entered a museum collection in Beijing. Since the artist's passing, no further original works will be created, making authenticated paintings increasingly desirable to collectors.
