I’ve always loved working with these tones. There was a time when I painted almost exclusively in black, grey, and brown – and people at exhibitions would ask if I was feeling low. But to me, these colours are anything but sad. Grey makes other colours shine, and black is a timeless classic that creates striking visual tension. Just look at how the orange pops against the grey – it’s a quiet explosion, a moment of energy within calm.
