Above the clouds with Jonathan Livingston (Earth, water, air) (2020)Relief by Amanda Deadman

This is the third of my Jonathan Livingston paintings, (Jonathan Livingston Seagull is my all time favourite book), and for this one the initial painting is in watercolours.
The cut seagulls are slightly larger and arranged in a rectangle.

Each of the birds has been cut from the painting and decoratively arranged in diagonally graduating colours in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame

The result is a graduated blue, aqua, yellow and orange modern relief design revealing individual seagulls on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
