Original artwork description:

This is a retired chemistry professor with the chemical equation for his work with complex saccharides.
He featured in an exhibition alongside a physicist, an astronomer and I violinist.

I am fascinated by equations and music score...they look beautiful in their complexity, and, although I cannot begin to understand them, I like to study their creativity and feel that they become an art form in their own right.

I asked this chemist to write an equation close to his heart, and this is what he gave me. I have painted it in his own handwriting, and in fluorescent paint so that it glows in the dark...a sort of illuminated alchemy.
