A Resting Place in the Ashdown Forest (2026) Original Oil Painting by Chris Marshall
40.6 x 30.5 x 0.3cm (unframed)
£675
Original artwork description
The Ashdown Forest is a beautiful area of heath and woodland in East Sussex. It is very close to where I live, so I visit often. The landscape in this area is quite distinctive, but very wide and open, which can make it hard to capture in a painting. When I walked over a rise and into this view one sunny summer's evening, with the inviting bench in the foreground, I knew it was worth attempting a painting. This is the result. For those who know the area, it is looking north from just below Gill's Lap. It is 406 x 305mm (16 x 12 inches) painted on a canvas board.
