Original artwork description

A relaxing day
Langford lakes, Wiltshire
A small nature reserve,
Set in the idyllic Wyle valley,
Tranquil and special,
Seeing it in High Summer.

Words and experience of an area I keep going back to.
Original watercolour painting on Saunders Waterford 300gsm 140lb cold pressed rough textured.
I created this impressionist watercolour after I had been there in the morning and arrived back at the studio. I was eager to paint and the colours plus scene were fresh in my visual memory. I wet the paper all over and started with the back washes for the sky. There was a field of cut wheat so beautiful and the ethereal, summer trees to frame it beneath, I worked spontaneously and expressively. My brush was dancing a merry gig on the paper when I started on the wild flora in the foreground.

Materials used:

Rough textured watercolour paper Saunders Waterford 300gsm 140lb, Windsor and Newton watercolours, Chinese brysh, Japanese mop squirrel hair brush, small Chinese hake, filbert brush,
