DOLLS' PARADISE II is an abstract figurative painting by Gela Mikava, exploring the human body, conformity and the psychological ways in which people adapt to difficult environments.

Part of the Dolls' Paradise series, the work presents fragmented human forms through expressive abstraction. The figures exist within a shared visual space, suggesting individuals whose perception of hardship is shaped by seeing the same conditions reflected in the lives of others.

Even the harshest living conditions can become bearable when we observe that those around us endure similar hardships. Shared adversity can gradually alter our perception, making suffering appear ordinary when it becomes a collective reality.

Within the Dolls' Paradise series, the human figure becomes both individual and archetype — a body shaped by its environment, social expectations and the behaviour of the surrounding group. The work considers the tension between adaptation and individuality, and the point at which accepting a shared reality becomes a form of confinement.

Created with acrylic and ink on cotton canvas, the painting combines figurative imagery with gestural marks and contemporary abstraction.
