Gestural textured painting in pinks – inspired by Margot Robbie's Barbie in the newly released Greta Gerwig film (2023)
I read an interview with the Director of the film who said they had so many meetings that were just about the shade of pink to use in the film sets and costumes. This intrigued me, as a painter who works with a lot of colours, I decided to experiment with a palette of pinks. I also zoomed in and cropped the face to isolate features in action. It's not intended as a pretty or decorative painting in the same way the film isn't either, it is more about challenging the stereotypical ideals.
The work is painted in oils on a deep edge canvas (the edge is painted in pink too) it can be hung as it is or framed if preferred.
This painting is shipped stretched and ready to hang with fixtures on the back of the stretcher. It is signed on the back of the canvas. Paintings are securely packaged and shipped with a tracking number.
