About Vicki Des Jardins

After an apprenticeship in a professional art studio, I began my career as a full time artist 16 years ago. I currently live and enjoy working in my studio in beautiful Edmonds, Washington, USA. 

My focus is on figurative/ portraiture, the subject matter being mostly women and children. My painting style floats back and forth between realistic and a more painterly approach. The representational compositions typically have a minimalist tone, arrangements that combine distinct figures with abstracted elements. The figures/ structures occupy space and are present. The painterly pieces are more suggestive, containing figures and/or shapes that capture the essence of a subject, rather than clear details. No matter which style I happen to be working in, my goal is to impart a light and airy point of view, with a dash of the surreal. 

My award winning works have been shown nationally and can be found in corporate and private collections around the globe.
