About Thomas Steyer

Biography

The motives for my paintings arise from life itself, in its action and reaction spontaneously and self-propelled.
It can be an event or special thought that captivates me. I start off by dealing with the topic in writing, organize thoughts and condense my inner dialogue. A poem is created. I then transfer the composed summary onto canvas with pure emotion. The resulting picture can say more than a thousand words again.
Before starting the painting process, I decide on a colour palette and mix the hues in acrylics or oils. Then I surrender to the moment and apply the colour with impulsive brushwork on to the canvas, while unconscious influences dominate the emotional process and determine the direction.
