About Therese O'Keeffe

Biography

Seduced by colour my paintings are inspired by the flowers and countryside around me. My pallet is vibrant and colourful with lots of texture. I almost always work in oils in an abstract impressionist style.

I'm an irish artist from the southwest of Ireland, a place called killarney. I started painting after taking instruction from other Irish artists whose work I admired. I quickly developed my own style mainly impressionist and over the years have found myself exploring more abstract ways to paint. I'm really family orientated and paint to bring beauty into other people's homes and families. I have always lived in the countryside and flowers and hedgerows are an integral part of that. Painting impressionistic flowers allows me to interpret natural beauty creatively and it's a good subject to explore abstract and impressionist styles in an intuitive way. Also I love flower paintings in a kitchen because i think it brings the outside in. I paint in oils and find inspiration from the world around me. I really enjoy creating something new and hope you enjoy looking around my page.
