  • Biography
I'm Susanna Costantini, I'm a weaver and I run my small studio of artisanal weaving based in Italy. The approach I follow aims to highlight the exceptional value that comes from the interaction between hands and materials. For me hand-weaving is a kind of language and a form of writing. Hand weaving could be considered as an extreme analog practice nowadays but it’s like digital coding or a contemporary media language in some respects. Warp and weft are like a binary system and weaving offers endless possibilities of mixing materials and techniques. Weaving is also a way to explore visual art and communicate. My choices are driven by the trust in analogue arts as a way to live the present, discover and innovate through the process of creation. Handloom weaving is a way to celebrate these guiding principles.
