About Silvia Cherni

  • Biography

The process begins with colour, a chromatic concept that evolves naturally before my eyes. Infusing each work with elements from personal experiences of natural landscapes, memories, dreams and emotional journeys, I set out to create paintings that bridge the spiritual and physical worlds through colorful investigations of mood and atmosphere. I aim to capture how movement and color intermingle through a juxtaposition of brushwork styles and palette knife techniques. The expressive nature around us then becomes consumed by the piece and is transformed into swirls of motion, fractures of light and textured topographies. Free-flowing movements evoke the inherent dualities of our world: land and sky, earth and cosmos, humanity and nature.

While each scene depicts a landscape with an indistinct nature, there is a universality to each work that distinctly resonates with a grounded realistic familiarity to observers. As viewers escape into the expanses of my canvases, they are invited to unearth their own connections with the work, allowing for the paintings to be ever-changing and evolving. Embarking on an exploration of physical and emotional frontiers, new interpretations continually reveal themselves throughout the contemplative process of absorption of my colourscapes and subsequent full immersion into them.

Silvia Cherni is a London-based visual artist primarily working in the realm of oil paintings. After obtaining her Bachelor's degree from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, she decided to follow her lifelong passion for creation and use the long background in exploring painting and etching mediums to forge a career as a professional artist. She has further refined her expertise at London Fine Art Studios, with her all-encompassing abstract approach for the past decade culminating in an artistic practice that challenges our conceptions of space and time through signature-nuanced aesthetics and a gestural artistic style.
