About Sasha Sokolova

  • Biography
I was taught in classical oil technique by my grandfather. Usually I work in series of  5 - 7 works and often integrate photography as part of my process to create my compositions.  And pay a lot of attention to the details, as no doubt you can see.

My inspiration comes from my travels, and the excitement of new landscapes, cities, and cultures.  I try to reflect these subjects in a way that captures my feelings and experiences from these travels, especially the colours of Southern Europe, and the rhythm of daily life.  These days I focus on oil painting, both in the field as my grandfather taught me, and on return in the studio, but from time to time i return to watercolous and sketching.

Recently I worked on the all painted animated film Loving Vincent.
