About peter lancaster

  • Biography
Since graduating with a degree in Fine Art from Canterbury Christ Church University in 1999 I have been painting and refining my personal style. Having specialised in abstract paintings for the majority of my Degree I wanted to make sure that I also had a firm grounding in the technical aspects of painting and drawing. I feel this is apparent in my still life work today. This also helped me when I was teaching art. Firstly in a small independent school in Notting Hill Gate and more recently when I completed my PGCE at Goldsmiths University. I no longer make Abstract paintings, but I approach my Still Lifes with the same mind-set. It is more about the positioning of the objects and the contrast of colours chosen rather than an accurate representation of the subject matter. I aim for my paintings to be quiet meditations upon a subject, which are in stark contrast to the hectic clutter of our every day lives.
