About Nikolaus Weiler

  • Biography

Nikolaus Weiler lives and works as a freelance sculptor in Berlin since 1993.

The focus of his work is the construction of „alldimensional sculptures“ and „sculptures in spatially dynamic curvature“.

They are created in a constructive development process of spaces and bodies

that expand in all directions inwards and outwards into the surroundings. The aim is an objective and rhythmic spatial sculpture

in the field of tension between dynamics, movement and change

An „alldimensional sculpture“ can be presented in different ways and thus change its spatial appearance and physical expression in a lively way.

It can be weightless, static, dynamic or architectural.

The swinging forms strive for a floating balance and weightlessness in the space..

The open spatial construction is enlivened by two different materials,

which complement and extend each other in terms of their properties.

The surfaces of the materials become endless paths through the interior and exterior spaces of the sculpture.

The metal surfaces reflect light and the surroundings, conveying light and lightness.

The wooden surfaces, on the other hand, absorb the light and suggest materiality and depth.

„Sculptures in spatially dynamic curvature“ have minimal statics and can be rotated in their base.

Every sculpture in the gallery is unique. It is handmade and created by Nikolaus Weiler.

Each sculpture is preserved and polished before shipping.

Other works has been since 2016 sculptures in spatial dynamic curves.

In 2015 he uses acrylic glass in wood for sculptures wearing light.

From 2003 to 2008, he created kinetic sculptures that can be moved and altered in three dimensions – 2007 patented.

In 1994 begins his work and passion for sculpture with new forming techniques for solid wood blocks -2 patents.
