About Mark Maxwell

  • Biography
Mark Maxwell is a painter, sculptor and video installation artist. His video work which often involves metal electroplating will inspire his painting and vice versa. His paintings are best described as abstract landscapes
His substrate of choice is a folded aluminium panels, to which he applies metal leaf and oils.
He builds up the layers over long periods of time to create strong surface textures.
Visually they appear as a combination of the macro and the micro due to the impression of aerial photography of landscapes combined with delicate minute textures. His work is in private and corporate locations and due to the robustness of the aluminium panels his work has often been commissioned for outdoor locations and yachts.
