I am Maarit Korhonen. I live in Espoo, Finland. I am a long-time music maker. In my youth I also enjoyed visual arts, taking a year-long croquis/landscape course. I have gradually moved more and more into visual arts and have been working on my paintings continuously for many years.

At first I painted quite realistic paintings. From there I moved to a more humorous direction and now I prefer to paint in a more abstract style.

My abstract paintings are a mix of shape, line and rhythm. I use layered colors to bring depth and atmosphere to my work. `Most of my paintings feature a figure that I have drawn two, three or more times.

I make both smaller and larger works, but I prefer to make larger works.
