About Karolina Franceschini

Biography

Karolina Franceschini was born in Poland, where she studied art and design in one of the main Fine Art Academies. Now she is based in Glasgow, Scotland. She is also a proud member of the Society of Scottish Artists.

My artistic journey is deeply rooted in an innate connection to the natural world. From the earliest memories of my childhood in the verdant wilderness of Poland, to the rugged beauty of my adopted Scottish homeland, nature has been a constant source of inspiration. It is in the symphony of birdsong, the caress of the wind, and the kaleidoscope of colors that I find a profound sense of belonging and an inexhaustible well of creativity.

In my practice, I surrender to the ebb and flow of intuition, allowing it to guide my hand across the canvas. My approach to oil painting is one of fearless experimentation, embracing various techniques and brushwork without concern for the final image. This liberating process culminated in my latest series, where I sought to paint not with sight, but with sensation, exploring new methods of application to capture the essence of freshness, light, and dynamism.

'The remote Scottish north has become a sanctuary in recent years, a place where my connection to the environment deepens with time. The vividness of its sounds and scents infuses my work, as does a reverence for our ancestral ties to the land. Through my art, I strive to weave the ancient narratives of folklore into the present, illuminating our enduring bond with nature—a bond that is ever more precious as it becomes increasingly fragile in our modern world'.
