About Karine Paronyanc

  • Biography

I have a higher professional artistic education and a diploma from the Latvian Art Academy, department of monumental painting (2007). Additionally, my studies include afresco and sgraffito painting techniques at the Art Institute of Florence, Italy. I have enjoyed membership of the Artist's Union of Latvia since 2007 and held more than 20 solo exhibitions in Riga, Jūrmala, Valmiera and other Latvian cities and towns. I also take part on a regular basis in group exhibitions in Latvia, as well as in art projects of an international significance. I represented Latvian art at the international conference “Baltic Connecting” (2019) and since 2018, head my own “Karine Paronyanc Art Studio”.

The main themes of my art are Cosmos, Absolute, laws and rhythms of nature, the Sun and its energy, fertility.

My approach is to talk with a viewer in the language of metaphors, legends, symbols touching upon deep layers of genetic memories and the collective unconscious.

The collection “Watermelons” took a very special place in my biography: Watermelon-lotus has become my artistic symbol and identification mark.

My special interest is a study of interaction of spontaneous plasticity in living nature and linearity of the mind of civilization.

I believe that alongside the qualities of painting and content, also of significance is the impulse of vitality and energy conveyed through my works.
