About K Shaji

Biography

K. Shaji a realistic style oil painter in south India, as a commercial illustrator for more than 40 years. He was born in 1963 in Nepal (India) and raised in Kerala, a place in the south of India. His family is traditionally that of artists. In the past, during the royal reign, the king used to make the artists stay with their families near the temple construction site for the construction of the temple. He belongs to a migrant family. All his ancestors were skilled in painting and sculpture. He used to draw from the age of 5. All his work is traditionally painted by hand. His paintings are easy to recognize as they overflow with light and peace and beautiful color harmonies. He draws whatever he feels like drawing He celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought.
It was during his college education that he came to know about oil painting. He happened to see a magazine containing pictures of the paintings of the world famous artist ‘Peter Paul Rubens’. It fascinated him. After completing his degree studies in 1983, he joined a prestigious arts college in town (Cochin School of Art, Ernakulam. In 5 years of study, he chose oil painting. After completing his Fine Arts degree in 1988, he began his career as a full-time artist. To learn more about realistic painting, he became a disciple of ‘artist Vasan’, a famous realistic painter of that time. From him he learned realistic painting in the ‘Raja Ravivarma’ style.
He worked as an assistant art director in cinema for some time. Studied multimedia animation and worked as an animator in several animation studios for a long time. Along with his work, he continued to create his art, study and research it.
The knowledge he learned and found in his 40 years of artistic career is in each of his paintings. Most of his paintings are very realistic. Each painting takes a lot of time and is done with precision and perfection. He sees art as a gift from God. One who believes that only one in seven generations of an artist is born with talent. That is why he is 100 percent sincere towards art. Each of his paintings brings warmth to the eyes, joy and peace to the mind. It will be an investment in life for every person who buys paintings.
