About Julian Lovegrove Art

  • Biography
Rooted in a lifelong love of nature, my work is inspired by time spent outdoors—whether wandering through woods, crossing muddy fields, or sketching along the coast. I grew up in an artistic household, encouraged to observe and draw the natural world from an early age.

I prefer to work en plein air, capturing the mood and movement of the landscape directly from life. When not outdoors, I develop pieces in my Broadstairs studio using field sketches and notes. Influences include David Jones, Edward Seago, Rowland Hilder, and The Wapping Group of Artists.

    Dates: 6 Nov 2024 - 13 Oct 2024

Venue: York Street Gallery, Ramsgate, York Street, Ramsgate CT11 9DS

A selection of new oil paintings created mostly out in nature, in the woods, muddy fields, a forest, mountain tops, some say this is my ‘green period’! As a nature lover, I prefer to work outdoors, taking in the sights smells and feelings from all around, and creating paintings that appeal to nature lovers, worldwide. These are the best from this years output.
From 2pm 6th Nov to 12noon 13th Nov. Meet the artist, on Sat 9th.

Event: The Call of the Sea

    Dates: 1 Nov 2023 - 8 Nov 2023

Venue: York Street Gallery, Ramsgate CT11 9DS

A selection of original oil paintings, with connections to the sea, boats, harbours, under sail, yachting, fishing, under repairs in shipyards.

I have spent a year visiting harbours and boat yards, and creeks to capture all these images ‘en plein air’ as the impressionists did.
