About Juan José Molina Gallardo

  • Biography
Since I finished my BB AA studies, I have dedicated myself to teaching art in public and private institutions. I have been combining pictorial creation with teaching for many years. I believe that the trade is learned by studying the great masters, both ancient and contemporary, and by painting, painting a lot. The economy in the brushstroke is one of the traits that reveal the mastery of painting. It amazes me to contemplate those works where you see a face, a hand or a rose and when you get closer you can only see four dense and material brushstrokes, a prodigy of simplicity in execution. I always work series on the same theme to be able to experiment and get the best out of myself through methodical and patient work. Sometimes a series can last a year or several, depending on the theme and the complexity of the works. In the midst of them I always make portraits, a specialty that I love and in which I continue to experiment to find something that goes beyond the portrait itself and its resemblance, I believe that a portrait must be above its mission as a testimony of a character to acquire value as a work of art in itself.
