About Jochina van Kruistum

Portraits, female figures, animals and nature – it is all captured on my canvasses with great pleasure. My paintings depict the characters and emotions of my models through the use of lively colours and brushstrokes. Light, colour and contrast are playing a major role here. An emotion, movement or contradiction inspires me to create a new painting. By means of sketching, taking photographs and painting studies my ideas become actual works of art. I like organic shapes and by dropping or on the contrary, highlighting certain aspects the work is abstracted. I like to work with various art media to add extra perspective to my work. By painting multiple layers, both impasto and diluted, I give extra depth to my paintings.
