About Iryna Dolzhanska

Biography

Originally from Ukraine, I’ve spent the last 11 years in various beautiful countries all over the globe and for now I find myself based in the creative pot of Berlin. Since I was young, I was very passionate for drawing — a fact well-documented by childhood books and school notebooks filled with my sketches. Later on I started to experiment with mediums and techniques to create lasting art with depth and plasticity of oil paint. In our rush-hour world, I find a rare kind of peace in the still life of the everyday—apples, vases, you name it. I paint these simple things with an eye for the drama they could star in, if only we took the moment to see it and maybe find charm in a broccoli. I set the stage for these objects, arranging them thoughtfully, so they might shine under the spotlight of my brush. My backdrops are often dark and moody, inviting a second look at the familiar. In a time filled with too much noise, I'm inviting you to a quiet space to appreciate life's understated details. And I keep it eco-friendly, using water-mixable oil paints that are kind to the planet. It's my way of adding a little harmony both on the canvas and off.
