About Davide Dasly

  • Biography

Davide Mattera, known as "Dasly," was born in 1984 and spent his youth in the southern outskirts of Milan, a place filled with challenges and limitations.

From a young age, at just 16, he embarked on an unconventional artistic journey by painting street graffiti.

During those years, Italy was shaken by Tangentopoli, political and work-related scandals, and the suburbs, vastly different from today, didn't offer many alternative paths to young people drawn to the streets.

It was a time when urban art wasn't yet acknowledged as "street art"; it was deemed illegal, outside the market, and graffiti was considered rebellion, a world far from today's recognition of street art.

Rebellion was an integral part of Dasly, and a few years later, he delved into the world of tattoos.

His passion for storytelling evolved, moving onto the skin of people who had lived on the fringes of rules, in the most disadvantaged areas, fueling his thirst for knowledge.

Amidst a life filled with excesses and underground scenarios, Dasly continued to paint and tattoo, living day by day without a clear objective, expressing his artistic flair spontaneously and instinctively.

Then came music, years that could be described as "rock'n'roll," where a borderline life was a constant. But everything changed when he decided to leave it all behind and explore new horizons.

He traveled through Central America, Asia, and various European cities.

"Travel broadens the mind," there's no better way to describe it.

During these journeys, Dasly met extraordinary people who opened doors to aspects of life and spirituality he had never considered before.

He was drawn to mysticism, esotericism, and spirituality, elements he found in the study of ancient cultures through various forms of primordial art.

In primordial art lies a mysterious, timeless language where messages hide within subtle lines of understanding.

This ancestral form of artistic expression adapts uniquely to each individual, flowing through consciousness and knowledge like an ancient melody that awakens the deepest sensitivity of the soul.

His storytelling is infused with lived experiences, using textures that blend mystical, ancient worlds with the roughness of street life, creating an invisible thread to walk upon and tell stories, uniting past and present into a singular artistic journey.
